Who is WFColonel
I’m Kevin Thomas. I’m a 19 year old from Virginia who plays a lot of John Madden NFL Football.
I didn’t win a Madden Challenge, I don’t drive to tons of tournaments , and I’m not a millionaire off of Madden. What I do have is a top notch Madden game year in and year out, an awesome set of Madden Friends, and a vast knowledge of the X’s and O’s that will maximise your Madden game.
I have been playing John Madden Football since Madden 2003. I fell in love with that game and could not get enough of it.
Throughout the upcoming years I got very good at the games while also getting really good playing real life football.
While playing high school football in my junior year I was asked by my coach to take more responsibility with the team the following season to become a player coach. So I buried my head in the books so to speak and learned as much as I could about defense (thats the side of the ball I played). But in turn I had to also learn offense as well to effectively help out my younger teammates
Halfway through the season a thought just came up. “why dont I use some of the things I learned in madden”. And by god it worked. I can remember the first thing that I tried, it was the slant flat passing combo, reads and all.
Then I implemented my high school defensive tactics into madden and never looked back. I just kept learning more and kept getting better at implementing what I have learned into the virtual gaming world.
I can honestly say that learning this information has seriously helped out my madden game! And if I can do it you can do the same. Thats the point of this blog, to help you advance your madden game with the help of real life X’s and O’s content
No guys the name does not stand for Wake Forest!!!!
(I get that a lot)
The WF part of my name comes from my high school
The Colonel part of my name comes from my high school’s mascot
The 56 comes from my football jersey number, the number was given to me by “fate”. I might talk about that another time, but the story is freaking awesome!
But When I first got Xbox Live I needed a gamertag and that is what I thought of. I also just started posting on forums as the name.
So another question that you might have is ” If the name is basically high school related why do you still have it?”
Well I have really thought about changing my “madden name” a lot but its just too much of a hassle. I have had it for so long and everybody knows me by this name and it would just be tooooo much work to think of a new name, get all of my forum names changed, and inform EVERYBODY of the switch…….Sooooo I just will take the lazy route and keep it
So Why The Blog?
I want to be as transparent as possible with everything that I do in Madden. My schemes, my strategies, my thoughts….its all for you to see. I am not trying to show off my success, that is most definitely not my purpose.
If you’re already doing well in madden, I hope that my experiences – both my successes and my failures – can help you reach the next level.
If you’re not doing well playing madden, you can see what you need to do, see what’s involved and make informed decisions on what you need to do to improve as a player
Please feel free to click on the manual below and get exclusive madden strategies that you cannot find here on the blog, as well as free access to my manual, How To Run The Ball, which has been downloaded over 1,000 times!
And finally, please read this carefully:
I don’t consider myself a Madden guru, my techniques are not secrets held to the death and the kinds of things I teach are not “Cut and Paste” schemes – far from it actually.
This is why you won’t see me offer any paid lessons – not because I don’t want to help, but because honestly most of the information I could give you can be found for free here on my blog or elsewhere online . Also I don’t think so highly of myself that I am worthy to be paid for a quick 101 session
If you need some help figuring stuff out, just use my contact form and if enough people have that same issue than I will take out a lot of my day to focus on answering that publicly
Getting good at Madden takes a lot of hard work, a lot of patience and a little bit of luck too. I know I have a little bit of a cool story and I am here to inspire you too, however I want to do it the right way. I speak only from my experience and please don’t feel like you owe me anything because of it. This is my way of paying forward the amazing things that have happened to me.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, and I hope to see you on the blog sometime soon!
